Hello, Veldheer Life followers! Today, we're diving into one of the most crucial aspects of your child's health and development: sleep. Ensuring your little one gets enough rest is essential for their growth, mood, and overall well-being. As parents, we know how challenging it can be to create the perfect sleep environment, so I want to share two of my favorite products that have helped us: Bebcare’s Baby Monitor and the SlumberPod. I wish to share my personal experience with these great inventions so you and your family can benefit from a better night of sleep.
Why Sleep Matters (more than what you think)
Sleep is a cornerstone of healthy development. During sleep, children's bodies undergo vital processes such as growth, brain development, and immune system strengthening. Here are a few key reasons why sleep is important:
Growth and Development: During deep sleep, the body releases growth hormones essential for physical development. This is particularly crucial for rapidly growing infants and toddlers.
Cognitive Function: Adequate sleep supports brain development, helping with memory consolidation, learning, and problem-solving skills.
Emotional Regulation: Sleep plays a significant role in emotional stability. Children who get enough rest are generally happier, more patient, and better equipped to handle stress and frustration.
Physical Health: Quality sleep boosts the immune system, reducing the likelihood of illnesses. It also helps maintain a healthy weight by regulating hormones that control hunger.
Creating the Ideal Sleep Environment
Creating a sleep-conducive environment is key to ensuring your child gets the rest they need. Here are two products that have been game-changers for us:
1. Bebcare Digital Audio Baby Monitor
Hearing your baby when they need you is excellent for peace of mind. The Bebcare Baby Monitor is one of the best tools for this job. Here’s why I love it:
Low EMF Emission: Bebcare monitors emit 91% less EMF radiation than other baby monitors, making it a safer option for your baby's nursery. EMF (electromagnetic field) radiation can be harmful because newborns are more sensitive to radiation, which may affect their developing brains and bodies.
Crystal Clear Audio: The high-quality audio ensures you can hear your baby, so you’ll know if they need you without constantly checking.
Long Battery Life: With up to 70 hours of battery life on eco mode, you can trust that the monitor will be operational throughout the night.
Smart Features: It includes a temperature sensor, night light, and lullaby player, all controlled remotely, making it a versatile addition to your baby's room.
EMF TIP: Keep electronics and chargers as far away from your bed as possible. Jared discovered that moving his power bank of cords from next to his bed to five feet away on the other side of his nightstand improved his sleep recovery on his wearable device, solving the mystery of why his sleep at home wasn't as good as when he traveled.
We chose Bebcare’s digital audio baby monitor instead of a video monitor because it is the lowest EMF option on the market. This unit has an incredibly long audio distance range of 2,000 feet. I have yet to venture somewhere where I have not gotten a signal from the unit. The small size is ideal to carry when moving about the house while the baby sleeps. I will roam the house with my headphones on, listen to a podcast with the monitor clipped to my waistband, and have the vibrate function of the monitor turned on. I will feel the vibration of her noise since I am listening to something else. It's a great feature. You can toggle between vibration on and off.
I put great emphasis on the quality of my sleep. I love that I can set the monitor sensitivity to only pick up baby noises and not white noises in the room. Because I love this monitor so much, I have partnered with Bebcare to offer our followers a discount. Please check out Bebcare and swap out your baby monitor. 2. SlumberPod
Traveling or dealing with less-than-ideal sleep environments can disrupt your child's sleep routine. The SlumberPod is a portable solution that helps create a dark, cozy space anywhere:
Portable Privacy Pod: This breathable, blackout canopy fits over a crib, playard, or toddler mattress, creating a private, dark sleep space.
Easy Setup: It’s quick and easy to set up and take down, making it perfect for trips or overnight stays with family and friends.
Comfort and Safety: The SlumberPod is made from safe, breathable materials and provides plenty of airflow, ensuring your baby's comfort and safety.
We love to travel and wish we had this product when our other kids were younger. It instantly creates a blackout room, transforming any space into a perfect environment for your baby to sleep undisturbed. We purchased the SlumberPod with the fan. We are all hot sleepers and find the fan a great addition to circulate air. They are currently running a Prime Time sale with 20% off. I love a good discount =)
Do Your Best
Ensuring your child gets enough sleep is crucial for their health and development. With so many unpredictable elements in life, a consistent nap schedule has been invaluable for Jared and me. It takes discipline from both parents to stick to this routine. Below, you will find the age and time breakdown that we used for our kid's naps.
Newborn (birth to 5 months): 2 hours of wakefulness. Our babies were ready to nap after about two hours of wakefulness.
5-6 months old: 2 naps a day. The first nap starts around 8:30-9:30 am, and the second around 1:30-2:30 pm.
18 months: 1 nap. This transition from 2 naps to 1 nap freed up our schedule. This nap starts after lunch, around 12-1 pm.
Maintaining consistent nap times is essential. When nap time disappears, we implement a one-hour quiet time. The age at which quiet time starts varies; our first daughter stopped napping at age 2, while our second child napped until age 6. Bedtime for us has consistently been 7-7:30 p.m., adjusting to 8 p.m. as our kids grew older.
We have our kids in bed at 8 pm. This is when we read stories, share stories, snuggle, and say prayers. They enjoy getting mom and dad one-on-one. Our children still cling to this routine, and we, parents, love that they enjoy time with us. We realize that not every night will be the perfect bedtime routine. It's okay to have nights where the kids get to stay up late and do something fun and out of the ordinary. Those are the moments that create memories for everyone.
